Kitty Rose , classic country star, is celebrating 25 years in the music business this
past summer. From her beginnings in Houston, Texas, where she like many artists
of her generation began singing in church choir, she performed at age 12 in the
Superdome in New Orleans and her first song was published at age 13. As a rising
star, she appeared at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and seemed destined for
stardom, but fate forced her to leave her Texas home and Kitty all but disappeared
from country music, winding her way through punk, metal and rock bands on the
dangerous streets of Hollywood. But her country roots kept showing through that bleached blond hair and with new found confidence, Kitty returned to her true calling, releasing "Kitty Rose Greatest Hits!" in the summer of 2005. She's opened for Hootie & The Blowfish to Aaron Tippen, Southern Culture on the Skids to Amanda Marshall, The Blasters to Red Meat, and over 200
Frankie J. , was born on Feb. 6th in McCloud, California and his music career
began at the age of seven with the tenor sax but soon he discovered the piano,
Hammond B-3 organ, vibraphone and bass and electric guitars. He has been
performing professionally for over fifty-two years throughout California and
Oregon and across the ocean to Hawaii including a USO tour in Korea, Taiwan
and Japan. He played at the historic Playboy Club in San Francisco, performed
with the legendary Cab Calloway, played for Charles Schulz' annual birthday
celebrations and many private parties and winery engagements in N. California.
Andy Kong a Singer/Songwriter from the small town of Hopland, California
in Mendocino County. He is seventeen years old and has been playing the
guitar, writing and performing his original songs for the past four years.
He is an unsigned artist, and has released one CD; "New Day Rising".
Jim Tuhtan, has resided in Ukiah since 2002, in which time his study of jazz
guitar has reached fruition. Though he plays other genres, Jim has always been
a fan of jazz greats on the instrament from Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery,
Pat Marino and many others. He's practiced ear training coupled with study of
theory application until he began performing. Dawn Senften, has been living in
Ukiah for over thirty years. Dawn has been active in the local Civic Light Opera and stage, but has always wanted to sing in the jazz idiom. Jim and Dawn bring bassist Larry Ames, who plays locally with the Mendocino Opera and various local symphonies.
